ACM membership spam just keeps coming
Just some background. I jointed the local on college ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) group and had to join the bigger ACM group to be part of a programming contest one year. Somehow I keep getting their e-mails. Like any respectible organization they include instructions to unsubscribe at the end of mass market mailings. Like unrespectible organizations these have yet to get me off their list. At least in my recent sent-mail folder I've sent unsubscribe requests June 5, 2009, July 27, 2009, August 27, 2009, and now April 7, 2010 after getting yet another spam message from them recently. Has anyone else had any success getting off their list?

Hi, I'm having a problem with my ACM membership. It seems that even though I've left ACM more than a decade ago, ACM still hasn't deleted my account. I've repeatedly followed the instructions at the bottom of your spam, you know the line that says to e-mail unsubscribe-vs@acm.org ? But I'm still getting the e-mail spam asking for membership. I'm not the only one. Please completely erase my e-mail address from your records and let me know it has been completed.

"ACM will never sell or rent your email address." How about not spamming? How about actually following the unsubscribe requests?

It still doesn't excuse the unsubscribe from failing. Another year or two should tell.
